The major responsibilities of the Regional Biomedical Engineering unit is supplying, installing, commissioning, and maintaining of medical equipment in the Medical Institutions which are coming under the Office of Regional Director of Health Services, Kalutara.

The Biomedical Engineering unit is placed in Thalpitiya, Wadduwa and it has workshop(electronic/Mechanical) facilities, ware house facilities for both the new equipment and spare parts as well as general office facilities.
